Airspeed Indicator — reads zero on the ground
Altimeter — set to local pressure, indicates within ±75 feet of field elevation
Vertical Speed Indicator — reads zero or note any consistent error
Alternate Static Port — slight change when activated
Attitude Indicator — erect and stable within 5 minutes of power-up
Heading Indicator — aligned with magnetic compass
Turn Coordinator — turns in correct direction, wings level when stopped
Magnetic Compass — swings freely, full of fluid, no bubbles
Deviation Card — present and readable
HI aligned with compass on ground (or compass rose if available)
Functioning — panel-mounted or portable
Used for timing holds, approaches, fuel checks
Must be installed in the aircraft.
Load the approach frequency into NAV 1 and NAV 2 (example: 108.9 ISND).
Activate and ID to ensure it is working properly.
Load Ground/Clearance, ATIS, Tower, and Departure frequencies.
